SUKKUR: Armed men gunned down a social activist on Baid Kaman Road within the jurisdiction of New Faujdari police station in Shikarpur on Wednesday.

Police officials said that Aijaz Ahmed Kakepoto, who was retired health official, was going on a motorcycle from Shikarpur to Sahib Khan Kakepoto village, the armed men ambushed him and managed to escape from the crime scene. The victim sustained fatal wounds and died on the spot, they said.

They said that they were informed by the area people about the incident and shifted the body to Shikarpur Civil Hospital for post mortem. The body was handed over to heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities, they said.

Ayaz Ahmed Kakepoto, the victim’s son, told police that a rival group of their community had killed his father over a running matter on property with his family.
