SUKKUR: Ghotki police claimed to have arrested a man who axed to death his wife, a mother of four, in Shahpur Mahar area within the limits of Khanpur Mahar police station, Ghotki district, on Wednesday.

Police officials said that Abdul Rahman Banglani attacked his wife Ms Saleemat Banglani with an axe and killed her in his tent house. Police shifted the body to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Hospital in Khanpur Mahar taluka for post mortem and arrested the suspect, they said.

They said the body was handed over to the woman’s close relative Eidan Banglani after completion of medico-legal formalities.

Eidan Banglani told reporters that the suspect, who was originally a resident of Shikarpur district, was living with his wife and four minor children in a tent house in Shahpur Mahar area in Ghokti district. The suspect was mentally ill, he claimed.
