DERA GHAZI KHAN: In an operation against illegal wildlife trafficking, district field staff on Wednesday arrested some individuals involved in the illegal capture and trade of protected species.

The operation, part of an ongoing combing and surveillance initiative, targeted illegal activities along the DG Khan-Quetta Road near Rakh Choti Dalana.

During the operation, the suspects were found illegally capturing Spiny-tailed lizards, a protected reptile species. The offenders were promptly arrested and charged under the Wildlife Act.

The suspects were presented before a court of law, but due to an adjournment, the hearing has been postponed until Thursday (today).

All equipment used in the illegal activity, along with the live Spiny-tailed lizards, has been seized.
