LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned PTI social media activist Sanam Javed on her petition challenging a show-cause notice issued by an anti-terrorism court.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural heard the petition.

At the start of the hearing, the bench inquired about the petitioner’s presence, asking, “Where is Sanam Javed?”

Her lawyer responded that she was on her way.

The bench then adjourned the hearing till Wednesday (today) and directed the petitioner to appear in court.

The petition argues that the anti-terrorism court issued a show-cause notice to Sanam Javed’s guarantor due to her absence at a hearing of a May 9 case against her.

It said the notice was unjustified, asking the LHC to quash the trial court order.

Ms Javed faces charges of violence in several cases registered by different police stations regarding the May 9 riots erupted in wake of the arrest of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan in a graft case by the NAB.
