LARKANA: The Model Criminal Trial Court of Qambar-Shahdadkot on Monday awarded a nine-year imprisonment to a couple after they were found guilty of transporting six kilos of narcotics by a motorcycle bearing no number plate.

The case was registered against Dad Karim and his wife Amina Brohi at the Qambar City police station on April 25, 2024 after they were arrested on their way to the city from Usta Mohammad taluka of Jaffarabad district, Balochistan, on a tip-off.

Judge Tarique Bhatti, who also presides over an Anti-Narcotics Court, had earlier reserved his judgement after hearing the prosecution and defence lawyers. He also imposed a fine of Rs80,000 on the couple. In case of default on the fine amount, they would have to undergo an additional two-month imprisonment, the order said.
