PHITSANULOK (Tha­iland): Pakistan cyclist Ali Ilyas Jawaid held on to his crown by winning gold in the individual time trial of the Masters Category at the Asian Road Cycling Championship on Saturday.

Having won in Kaza­khstan last year, Ali clin­ched first place with an impressive time of 26:30.556 minutes over a challenging 21.4 km distance. Thaliand’s Naron­gdat Sangchai and Thu­rakit Boonrat­anath­anak­orn finished second and third respectively.

In a statement, Pakistan Cycling Federation president Syed Azhar Ali Shah said “Ali’s outstanding performances at the continental level showcases Pakis­tan’s growing potential in international cycling”.
