PESHAWAR: Twelve persons were injured when a gas cylinder exploded inside a hotel near the Khyber Teaching Hospital here on Saturday morning, Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said that the injured persons were initially shifted to the hospital by people present on the spot as firefighters immediately reached the area to put out the blaze caused by the blast in the hotel.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the city police said that initial reports suggested that the gas cylinder exploded due to fire caused by an electric short-circuit inside the hotel.

A list shared by the city police carried details of the injured persons with mostly attendants with patients admitted to KTH.
