KARACHI: A young man was shot dead and his cousin wounded by robbers in the Garden area on Tuesday morning while one of the suspects was also killed by the firing of his accomplices, police and rescue services officials said.

Soldier Bazaar SHO Waqar Azeem said that four robbers, who were on two motorcycles, intercepted two cousins, Tahir Baloch and Saddam Husain, at the Jamaat Khana near Hashu Apartments with an intention of robbing them.

However, when the victims put up resistance and overpowered one of the suspect, the muggers resorted to firing. As a result, both the cousins were wounded. One robber, later identified as Abdullah Hasan, was also wounded by the firing of his accomplices. The suspects then escaped, leaving behind their accomplice in wounded condition.

Victims Husain and Baloch were taken to a private hospital on Stadium Road where the latter was declared dead. The wounded robber was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was also pronounced dead on arrival.
