PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new police chief Zulfiqar Hameed on Thursday said the entire world recognised the sacrifices offered by the KP police and vowed to continue the fight against terrorism.

Mr Hameed, who assumed charge of his post at the central police office Peshawar, said the force had the ability to deal with every challenge.

In his address to senior police officials, Mr Hameed said terrorism had an impact on the force and the force’s welfare was among his top priorities, said an official statement issued from his office.

“KP police is a brave force with immense capabilities and has the ability to deal with every challenge,” the statement quoted Mr Hameed as saying, adding that there was no example of the courage and bravery with which the force had fought against terrorists.

Mr Hameed joined police force on Nov 1, 1995. The newly-appointed KP police chief has served in Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh and has been posted for the first time in KP. He also served as deputy inspector general investigation, additional IG operations and internal accountability, investigation, training.
