NAWABSHAH: Family members, relatives and supporters of three clansmen killed in a clash between two groups of Junejo community in Jani Junejo village near Sanghar on Sunday continued their sit-in for the fourth consecutive day at Mirpurkhas Chowk in Sanghar on Wednesday.

The protesters refused to bury the victims till registration of FIR against an MNA of Pakistan Peoples Party, Salahuddin Junejo and others, accusing them of being involved in the clash.

In a dramatic move, a relative of the victims, Fida Hussain Junejo announced burying the bodies and said the protest would continue till the registration of case against the MNA but he backtracked on the statement soon afterwards and said the widows had refused to go for the burial till all the accused were booked.

They reiterated the allegation that they held MNA Salahuddin directly responsible for the clash and said police were supporting the criminals. Despite passage of four days, Sanghar police had failed to register any FIR about the incident, they said.

They have so far turned down requests of officials of the district administration and local leadership of PPP including MNA Shazia Jannat Mari to bury the bodies and call off the protest.

Lawyers boycott courts

Members of Mirpurkhas High Court Bar Association (HCBA) and district bar associations (DBAs) of Sanghar and Thar boycotted courts and staged protests against the Sanghar incident.

The lawyers termed the administration’s attitude towards the bereaved families as “extremely regrettable”.
