PESHAWAR: Two police constables were injured in a hand grenade attack on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Wednesday night, police said.

A statement issued by the city police said that unidentified persons riding a motorbike hurled a hand grenade at a police post of Mathra police station, which blew up and injured two constables deployed at the police post.

It added that constables Shafiullah and Ghulam Haider were shifted to hospital and both were stated to be in stable condition.

The the bomb disposal unit reached the spot along with senior police officials and launched a search operation in the area.
