TOBA TEK SINGH: Sahianwala police have arrested five men occupying two cars for allegedly resorting to crossfire on M-IV motorway between Pindi Bhattian and Faisalabad on Tuesday.

As per the police, they received information that occupants of two speeding car were firing at each other on the motorway.

Acting on the information, the police blocked the road and arrested the suspects in both cars.

The police recovered three rifles and a pistol from the suspects identified as an Islamabad police Constable Tehseen Ahmad, Ashfaq, Ali Hassan, Ghulam Murtaza and Khalid.

Police say the suspects opened fire at each other after a minor accident on motorway. The suspects’ cars have also been impounded by the police.

CHILD RAPED: A six-year-old boy was allegedly raped by a vagabond in Islampura locality of Faisalabad on Tuesday.

As per the FIR registered by Faisalabad Saddar police under section 376 of the PPC, the boy went to a barber’s shop for a hair cut, where the suspect lured him and took him to his house and raped the child.

The police have arrested the suspect and got got the victim medically examined at the district headquarters hospital, confirming the rape.

SUICIDE BID: A young man allegedly attempted self-immolation after failing to marry a girl at Chak 8/9 R, Khanewal, on Tuesday.

Reports said Akhtar Hussain had eloped with a girl from the same village a week ago, but a punchayat (jury) comprising elders from both sides forced them to return home.

The girl was then handed over to her parents.

On Tuesday, Akhtar, forced his entry into the girl’s house and in a fit of dejection attempted to set himself on fire. However, the girl’s family members overpowered him and handed him over to his parents.

During the self-immolation bid, Akhtar suffered burns and was shifted by a Rescue 1122 team to the DHQ hospital.

Makhdoompur police have registered a case against the suspect.
