LARKANA, April 20: The district council of Qambar-Shahdadkot on Thursday adopted a resolution calling upon the government to provide gunnybags to wheat growers.

Qaim Khan Shaikh of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel (KPP) moved the resolution accusing the food department of supplying gunnybags only to traders, ignoring the growers.

After discussing the issue, the district council unanimously adopted the resolution urging the government to meet the essential requirements of farmers.

Convener Atta Hussain Junejo presided over the session.

Punhal Soomro, who leads the Awam Dost Panel (ADP), criticised the district government for neglecting his panel and said the ADP members’ development schemes were not being included in the list of projects going on in different union councils.

Later, members of the panel staged a walkout.

The district council later passed a resolution for purchasing cars for the district nazim and naib nazim.

A proposal moved by Punhal Soomro for construction of offices of nazims in the Qambar-Shahdadkot district was also passed in his absence.

Speaking at a press conference, KPP members Khalique Massan, Shahnawaz Chandio, Sardar Chandio, Manzoor Marfani, Santosh Kumar and Sardar Ali Jarwar urged ADP members to cooperate in running affairs of the district government.
