LAHORE: A six-member International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation on Sunday visited the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore to assess the venue’s readiness for the Champions Trophy scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan in February-March.

Comprising officials, broadcasters and logistics personnel, the ICC delegation reviewed facilities at the stadium including media boxes, dressing rooms and enclosures for the Feb 19-March 9 event.

Usman Wahla, PCB director international cricket, briefed the ICC delegation on the ongoing upgrade work at the stadium.

The visit will provide the delegation with the first-hand information on the state of affairs at Pakistan’s three venues — Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi — where the Champions Trophy matches will be staged.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently claimed that preparations were being made for the the inauguration of the upgraded venue on Jan 25.

The ICC delegation has already visited the Champions Trophy venues in Karachi and Rawalpindi.
