Sony Animation and Netflix are teaming up for a new animated Ghostbusters film, directed by Kris Pearn, joining an upcoming animated series.

Inspired by the success of the Spider-Verse films, this project aims to bring fresh energy to the franchise. Pearn, known for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, has a strong relationship with both studios. While details are scarce, fans can look forward to two major animated Ghostbusters projects, alongside more live-action films.

The recent Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire earned $201 million at the box office, and future big-screen stories are in the works. The huge success of Ghostbusters made way for a franchise with a direct sequel, a failed reboot in 2016, and a second reboot with two movies, along with two animated TV shows, video games, and lots of merch.

DC’s upcoming Superman film, directed by James Gunn, releases its first teaser. David Corenswet plays the Man of Steel in the movie that’s intended to kick-start a new era for DC Studios, with Rachel Brosnahan as the latest Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as a bald and menacing Lex Luthor, and others.

The trailer starts with Superman crashing to Earth in an icy landscape before being revived by Krypto the Superdog. Corenswet, 31, is the fourth person to play the role in a major Superman movie, and the first in a decade. The movie, set for a July 11 release, reboots the iconic superhero story.
