KARACHI, April 18: Sindh Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari reviewed the progress of Sindh Government Hospital Korangi No 5 extension project.

During the visit, he said that work on the Rs164.40 million project was started in February 2004. Under the extension project, the three-storey hospital complex would have facilities for treatment of heart and brain diseases, orthopaedic, plastic surgery ward, operation theatre, intensive care unit, seminar hall, conference room, library, computer store and research hall.

He said that about 75 per cent work has been completed while the remaining will be completed by June 2006. He said that its completion would benefit the poor people of Landhi and Korangi.

Mr Bukhari directed the DO Health to take special care of qualitative work and ensure completion by June 2006 as the required funds had already been provided.

He said 50-bed hospitals in Gadap Town and Rerhi should also be completed before June 30.

District Officer Health Noorul Islam assured him that all these schemes would be completed by stipulated period.

The minister was accompanied by MPA Syed Jarar Hussain Shah while Medical Superintendent Dr Imtiaz, Additional MS Dr Abdul Wahid Rajput and Town Health Officer Dr Khalid were also present. —APP
