KHUZDAR: Five people, including three women and a girl from the same family, were killed and one person was injured in a head-on collision between a car and a speeding truck on the Quetta-Karachi highway near Winder, Lasbela district, on Wednesday evening.

Police officials said the accident occurred in the Adam-Khand area when a car travelling from Quetta to Karachi was struck by a truck coming from the opposite direction.

“Three women and a six-year-old girl died on the spot, while a fifth victim succumbed to injuries while being shifted to Karachi,” a police official said. The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital.

“No one survived to identify the deceased,” a police officer told Dawn. He added that no identification documents or belongings were found in the family’s luggage.

However, authorities later determined that the victims belonged to the Hazara community and were associated with the Hazara Democratic Party. The bodies would be sent to Quetta for identification.
