NEW DELHI, Feb 4: Indian defence and military leaders met Russian and American officials separately on Monday.

India and Russia began talks on greater defence cooperation and an official said New Delhi’s needs, such as nuclear submarines and an aircraft carrier, may be discussed when Russian Deputy PM Ilya Klebanov visits New Delhi this week.

As Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov talked with Fernandes on Monday, top Indian officers discussed ways to combat terrorism with a visiting US armed forces team, led by Major-General James Campbell, commander of US army in the Pacific. The US team is in New Delhi for two days.—Reuters
