KARACHI, April 13: The Anjuman Naujawanan-i-Islam has demanded immediate removal of the provincial government, particularly the chief minister and home minister, for its failure in protecting life and property of citizens and ensuring peace in the province.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday, ANI chief Malik Nazir Ahmed said that the federal government should order a judicial probe into the Nishtar Park tragedy without involving the Sindh government in it.

He pointed out that despite a lapse of a considerable time after the blast, neither the federal nor the provincial government had come out with any concrete step to arrest the culprits.

He advised opposition leaders to quit the parliament and assemblies in protest against the tragic incident.

He said that countrywide protests would be held on Friday.

He also demanded payment of Rs500,000 each to the bereaved of every person who died in the blast and Rs100,000 to each injured, besides free medical treatment.

Mr Malik further demanded release of all the arrested Jamaat Ahle Sunnat activists, and reiterated his organization’s resolve to continue its peaceful protest until the arrest of all those involved in the Nishtar Park blast.—PPI
