HYDERABAD, April 12: Eid-i-Milladun Nabi was observed on Tuesday with traditional religious fervour with no untoward incident reported from any part of the city.

Around 100 small and large processions marched from different parts of the city and merged in the main congregation at Milad-e-Mustafa Chowk, which was organized by Markazi Jamaat-e-Ahle-Sunnat.

The faithful and different welfare organisations had erected camps in Phuleli Paretabad, Latifabad, Qasimabad and other parts of the city along the processions’ routes to distribute food and sweets among people. Tanzeem Khadim-e-Insaniyat distributed sweets among prisoners in Central Jail.

Large rallies were staged by Anjuman-e-Fidayan-e-Pakistan in Serayghat, Anjuman-e-Fidayan-e-Rasool in Latifabad and Dawat-e-Islami in Faizan-e-Medina. Quran Khawanis were held in different mosques.

The main procession was led by senior vice president Jammiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) and MNA Muttaheda Majlis-e-Amal Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair and MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput and other JUP leaders.

Allama Mufti Hammad Raza Noori Barkat, Sahibzada Jawad Raza Barkati, Maulana Mohamamd Shahid Barkati, Maulana Syed Mabqool Ahmed Noor, Allama Arshad Rizvi led a separate procession of Dar-ul-Uloom Ahsan-ul-Barkat in the morning.

The procession joined another main rally which culminated at Bagh-e-Mustafa ground, Latifabad where leaders addressed the gathering.

Syed Moazzam Naqvi, Dr Mubarak Jafri and Prof Sohail Jafri also led a rally from Karbala Dadan Shah, which ended at Imam Bargah Gul Shah Bukhari. Participants of a rally staged by Anjuman-e-Fidayan-e-Rasool briefly blocked the Station Road after police tried to disperse them at different places on its route.

Allama Mufti Hamad Raza Noori and Allama Syed Azmat Ali Shah expressed their anger over police and demanded strict action against in-charge District Intelligence Bureau (DIB) for changing the procession’s route.

As the rally blocked the road, Muttahedda Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Naeem Ishtaiq and other party leaders who were present at a reception camp on Station Road, rushed to the rally and tried to pacify the angry procession. The DIB denied police changed the route.

The main congregation at Milad-e-Mustafa Chowk adopted several resolutions, condemning a TV play being broadcast from Karachi centre, Basant celebrations, vulgarity in the name of mixed marathon and publication of blasphemous cartoons.

The gathering urged the government to sever all diplomatic and trade ties with European countries and said the chapters on religion should not be deleted from text books under western influence.

It warned the government against secularisation of educational system in the country, and also condemned price hike and frequent raise in petrol prices.
