Army a step away from title

KARACHI, April 8: Title holders Army are a step away from retaining Inter departmental basketball title when they downed Police 100-35 points to register second win in the four-team super league at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre on Saturday.

Soldiers who have maintained an unbeaten record led 43-17 at the break. The highlight of the play was that Army set new mark in the tournament by capitalizing 16 three pointers.

Waheed Jr top scored 21 including four three points. Other scorers were Pervez Hussain (16), M. Ilyas (15), Nawazish Ali (12) and Waheed Sr (11).

Azmat Baig contributed 10 while Zaheer Iqbal pocketed 8 points for the losers.

Sunday’s fixtures: 9.00am: PAF v Police; 11.00am: Army v Railways
