RAHIM YAR KHAN: A man who was allegedly kidnapped by robbers of the Katcha area on Oct 13 returned home on Wednesday.

Abdul Maalik Mosani, a resident of Basti Esa Mosani in the Jamaldin Wali area of tehsil Sadiqabad, was kidnapped by unidentified robbers of the Katcha area from his house at 2am. The suspects took him to the Katcha area.

The brother of Maalik, Abdul Khaliq, told Dawn on Thursday that after the kidnapping, his family started attempts for his brother’s return but there was no demand or contact from the kidnappers.

According to Khaliq, he, his mother and eight other relatives started their journey with the Holy Quran in search of Maalik after a suggestion of some elders.

They travelled to the Chak Umrani on the riverbed of the Indus where they met a tribal elder of Umrani tribe. They requested the elders for the safe return of their brother.

The Sardar assured them that their man was not in their custody but he would search for him and would make effort for his return. On his assurance, they returned home. On Tuesday evening, Maalik returned home safely without paying a single penny of ransom.

Khaliq further said there were chances that the Umrani Sardar and the robbers who kidnapped Maalik were from the Baloch tribe and they set his brother free as they also belonged to a Baloch tribe.

HARASSMENT: Two female technicians of a hospital were allegedly harassed by their doctor colleague in tehsil Sadiqabad.

Two technicians of the dialysis ward of a welfare trust hospital at Mukhtar Garh recorded a video statement, alleging that their ward in-charge medical officer (MO) called them to his office at night and harassed them.

When they complained to the hospital management about the matter, the management suspended them from service. They alleged that the doctor was suspended from the Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital also in 2018 on the charges of harassing a female nurse.

The women said they had complained to the chief minister portal as well as to the offices of district police officer (DPO), deputy commissioner (DC), Punjab ombudsperson and chief executive officer (CEO) of District Health Authority (DHA) RYK.

On Oct 15, the DC launched an inquiry and appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) Qandeel Fatima Memon as the inquiry officer.

Ms Memon told this correspondent that she had completed the inquiry into the case against the female technicians and she would share the report of detailed findings through WhatsApp. But she didn’t share the findings till the filing of this report.
