QUETTA/PEWHAWAR: Four terrorists were killed and one soldier was martyred in two incidents of exchange of fire between militants and members of security forces in Balochistan and KP.

In the first incident in Subakzai area of Zhob district of Balochistan, two terrorists, including a would-be suicide bomber, were killed and one security man embraced martyrdom during exchange of fire between members of security forces and terrorists.

A statement of Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of military, said on Wednesday that in early hours of October 9, a group of terrorists tried to attack a Frontier Corps check-post in Zhob district.

The attempt to enter the camp, the ISPR statement said, was thwarted by members of security forces, and resultantly two terrorists, including a would-be suicide bomber and terrorist Umar Umari, were killed before they could cause the damage.

Security man martyred in attack on check-post in Balochistan

Umar Umari was involved in numerous terrorist activities against members of security forces as well as innocent civilians. He also carried out a recent attack on the convoy of deputy commissioner of Sherani area. During heavy exchange of fire, Havaldar Jamshed Khan embraced martyrdom.

An operation has been launched in the area to neutralise any other terrorists present in the area.

The ISPR said that security forces of the country are determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.

It further said that “such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve”.

Two militants killed in KP

In another incident, two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire between members of security forces and terrorists in Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan district on Wednesday, says a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

According to the statement, security forces carried out an Intelligence- Based Operation (IBO) following reported presence of the terrorists in the area.

Two militants were killed in an intense exchange of fire between members of security forces and militants during the IBO, the statement said.

It also said that weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from militants killed in the exchange of fire. They, according to the statement, were actively involved in numerous militant activities against members of security forces as well as target killings of innocent civilians in the area.
