Sialkot hit back

LAHORE, April 2: Three quick wickets by paceman Sarfraz Ahmed brought Sialkot back into contention in the Pentangular Cup match against National Bank on an eventful third day at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The left-armer Sarfraz grabbed three for 22 to reduce the bankers to 139 for six in the second innings.

However, the bankers earned a first-innings lead of 128 after bowling out Sialkot for 409 earlier in the day. They now enjoy an overall lead of 267 going into Monday’s final day.

Sialkot opener Atiqur Rahman, who was 150 overnight, added just seven runs before he was caught by Samiullah Niazi off paceman Wasim Khan, who finished with four for 90.

Kamran Younis (49) and Tahir Mughal (42) were other main scorers for the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League champions.

For the Patron’s Trophy champions, leg-spinner Mansoor Amjad excelled with four for 102.
