PPP’s Samina Ghurki becomes MNA on reserved seat

ISLAMABAD: PPP’s number of seats in the National Assembly increased on Saturday as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has notified Samina Khalid Ghurki as the party’s MNA on reserved seats.

According to an ECP notification, Ms Ghurki became an MNA on the reserved seats for women from Punjab.

PPP tally of reserved seats — which are allotted in proportion to a party’s general seats — increased by one after its candidate, Makhdoom Tahir Rashe­edud Din, won the by-election from NA-171 (Rahim Yar Khan) last week.

Ms Ghurki, the president of PPP Punjab chapter’s women wing, hails from a political family of Lahore. She has previously served as federal minister.
