SUKKUR, April 1: The six victims of Friday’s train-rickshaw accident, including five members of a local cricket team, were laid to rest in Jacobabad on Saturday morning. The players of the local cricket team were going in two motorcycle rickshaws to the Sewo Daro village from Jacobabad to play a match when one of the rickshaw was hit by the Quetta-bound Chiltan Express at an unmanned railway crossing, killing all the six passengers.

Those killed were identified as Ashfaq Soomro, Maqsood Soomro, Aslam Ghunio, Ayub Brohi, Ramzan Mahar and driver Ahmad Nawaz.

Eyewitnesses said the train dragged the rickshaw more than one kilometre due to which it was completely destroyed.

CONDOLENCE: Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro on Saturday expressed grief over the loss of six lives in Friday’s accident of the Chaltan Express near Jacobabad, APP reports from Karachi.

In his condolence message, Mr Soomro prayed to God to shower blessings on the departed souls and grant solace to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

He hoped that railway authorities would ascertain the cause of the accident and take necessary measures to avoid such incidents in future.
