KOHAT, March 31: NWFP Minister for Local Government Sardar Idrees has said a summary containing estimates of losses caused by recent violence in Hangu has been presented to Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani who will himself distribute cheques among the affected people soon.

Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Kotal Town Welfare Association here on Friday, the minister said that a survey of lives lost and property damaged in the incident had been completed and the families of all victims and the affected traders would be duly compensated by the government.

Taking strong notice of the corruption on a massive scale in the once-richest tehsil municipal administration, he said that a high-level committee had been constituted to probe the issue and added that the culprits would not go unpunished.

He said that the government was trying to ensure supply of clean water throughout the province and filtration plants would be established in every union council.

He said that the decision had been taken in the interest of people who were suffering from various diseases caused by contaminated water.

On the demand of the people, the minister approved a filtration plant for the KDA township, which would be the first in the district.
