MARDAN: The Salaried Class Alliance of Pakistan here on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the imposition of heavy taxes on salaried employees and demanded of the government to withdraw the injustice and cruel taxation.

The protesting employees of different institutions, while carrying banners and placards inscribed with their demands, held protest demonstration on Shamsi road.

The leaders of business community along with large number of traders also accompanied the protesting employees.

Addressing the participants of demonstration, the speakers deplored that the common people were already facing critical financial situation due to rocketing price-hike.

They demanded of the relevant authorities to withdraw the imposition of heavy taxes on salaried class.

They urged the quarters concerned to bring landlords and industrialists under the tax net and make effective recovery of taxes from tax defaulters.

The speakers also said that the government’s announcement regarding increase in salaries of government employees was nothing more than a mockery.

They warned that they would stage more protest demonstrations if their demands were not met.
