BAHAWALPUR: A man, in complicity with his son, allegedly killed his daughter in the name of ‘honour’ at Fazilwala in the limits of Lodhran Saddar police station, on Friday.

According to police sources, victim’s mother Amna Bibi in her complaint to police stated that her daughter, Shaheena Bibi (20), had eloped with a young man a few days back.

She said that later her husband, Malik Zaman, and family elders brought her daughter back home after negotiations with the relatives of the man she had eloped with.

The mother said that she sent her daughter to her grandfather’s house at Kalloo village. She said that on Thursday night, her son Saqib brought Shaheena back home. She alleged that late in the night, her husband and her son murdered Shaheena.

Lodhran police, acting on the complaint, raided the house and recovered the victim’s body, which was shifted to Lodhran DHQ Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The police have registered a murder case against both suspects, who had fled away after the murder.

WOMAN SET ABLAZE: A man allegedly subjected his wife to torture and set her on fire at his house in Yazman, leaving her injured with serious burns on Friday.

According to police and Rescue 1122 sources, a housewife identified as Fauzia Bibi had a domestic dispute with her husband, Jalil Ahmed.

On Friday, the couple had a quarrel in their house in ward No 14, Yazman, following which Jalil subjected his wife to torture and set her ablaze after dousing her in petrol.

As a result, the woman suffered serious burns. However, hearing her screams, local intervened and rescued her. Meanwhile the suspect manged to flee.

On being informed of the incident, police and Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and shifted the woman to the Yazman THQ Hospital in serious condition.

Police are investigating the matter.

A police spokesperson claimed that the suspect has been arrested after registration of a case against him.

FOUND DEAD: The body of a seminary student was found hanging with a rope in a washroom of a madressha at Manzoorabad in Multan on Friday.

According to Multan Rescue 1122 officials, they received an emergency call from the administration of a seminary, Khairul Uloom, that a student had allegedly took his own life.

On reaching the seminary, the rescuers found the body of the student, Abdul Qadeer, hanging with a rope in a washroom from a nail.

According to police, the deceased belonged to Balochistan and was getting religious education in the seminary.

The police have started investigation after registration of a murder case against the unknown killer(s).
