KARACHI: A minor boy died and another rescued in critical condition a day after they went missing in Baldia Town on Wednesday, police said.

Ittehad Town SHO Ayaz Khan said the two minor children were found in critical condition from the trunk of a car parked at a garage near Khyber Chowk.

They were shifted to the nearby Murshid Hospital for treatment where three-year-old Usman Abdullah was pronounced dead.

The SHO said that the owner of the garage, which is located close to the boys’ home, found them lying in the car trunk.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said Usman’s body was brought to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors collected all relevant samples and reserved the cause of death till the receipt of the report of chemical examiner.

The other child was admitted to the National Institute of Child Health, she said.

The SHO said that the police were treating it as an ‘accident’.

The police hinted at the possibility that the children while playing locked themselves in the parked car and one of them died of suffocation.
