SUKKUR: Prof Dr Yousuf Khushk assumed charge as vice chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, on Monday amid warm welcome by faculty, university’s administration officers and other staffers, said a handout.

Dr Khushk said in his address to the gathering in front of admin block that as this university was named after great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, its name should not be linked to any scandals.

He was clearly referring to former vice chancellor Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto whose tenure was hit by scandals. Ibupoto was allowed to go on ex-Pakistan leave by Sindh chief minister on June 30 in the wake of weeks of protests against him.

Dr Khushk said he aimed to strengthen the research programs, expand infrastructure and promote cultural activities on the campus.
