SWABI: Two people, including a child, were drowned in the Indus River here on Thursday, said rescue officials.

A 21-year-old youngster identified as Zaheeb Khan went to the Indus River in the Hund area with his friends and were bathing there when he moved into deep water and drowned.

The rescue team has recovered the dead body who was hailing from Panjoir village and handover to the bereaved family for burial.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child who visited the Indus River along with his family also drowned in the Hund area, said rescue officials.

On receiving the information, the rescue diving team reached the spot and started a search operation. They recovered the body and handed over it to his family. The deceased, Mugheez Khan, belonged to Doubian village in Razaar tehsil.
