LOWER DIR: Bahadar Shahkhel tribe has announced that its members will play their active role in keeping peace in the restive areas of Maidan, Barawal and Bajaur.
The announcement was made during a gathering held at the hujra of Ameen Ghaffar Khan in Bandai Maidan here on Tuesday with Jan Alam Khan in the chair.
Ameen Ghaffar was nominated as chairman of the tribe.
Members of Bahadar Shahkhel tribe from Lower and Upper Dir, Malakand and Bajaur attended the function.
Tribe’s elders, including Ghaffar Khan, retired principal Tahir Khan, Jan Alam Khan, Ismail Khan, Jigar Ali Khan and others, addressed the gathering.
The speakers said Bahadar Shahkhel tribesmen lived in the border areas of Lower and Upper Dir and Bajaur districts. They said the tribe would play its active role in maintaining peace in these areas.
The speakers said the event was aimed to unite the tribe on a single platform. The speakers also informed the youth about the sacrifices rendered by their elders for protection of their homeland.
PPP REORGANISATION: Newly-appointed district president of Pakistan Peoples Party Ahmadzeb Khan has said all disgruntled workers will be persuaded to rejoin the party.
Talking to reporters, he said he would soon meet PPP central leadership and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to apprise them of the issues faced by party workers.
He said the party would be reorganised in the district.
Meanwhile, the All Government Contractors’ Association, Malakand division president Eng Ikramullah and general secretary Imran Takur on Wednesday threatened to launch agitation if the personal ledger account (PLA) was not opened immediately.
Speaking at a news conference, they complained PLA had been dysfunctional for last four years.
They said the account was opened for only two days a month for drawing salaries of the officials concerned.
The contractors’ representatives said the closure of PLA caused difficulty to contractors. They demanded of the district administration to take notice of the matter.
