The United Nations has said that at least three “mass casualty” attacks took place in Gaza this week, with two of the Israeli bombardments targeting schools where displaced people had taken shelter.

The first attack took place early in the afternoon on Tuesday when a UNRWA-run school was hit, reportedly killing 23 people and injuring more than 70, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said.

The second attack took place later that day in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, when people gathering to buy food on the street were targeted by Israeli forces, killing 17, including at least four children. A further 26 people were injured.

Later, on Wednesday, 11 people were killed, including children, when a school was attacked in the Remal area of Gaza City.
