NAROWAL: Two buffaloes were electrocuted in as many incidents due to the negligence of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco).

In the Bhaipur suburb of Shakargarh, the buffalo owned by one Muhammad Asad was electrocuted when it touched an electric pole. Due to a short circuit, the buffalo was electrocuted and died on the spot.

Local residents, Abdul Qadoos and Ali Hussain, said they had been alerting the Sub-Division No 4 of Shakargarh for seven days about the faulty electric pole.

The second incident took place in Zafarwal, where Karamat Ali’s buffalo touched an electric pole near the Government Rollers Dispensary on the Jandiala Road and was electrocuted.

Local residents protested against negligence of the electricity supply company and demanded immediate action against the responsible employees and financial assistance for the affected labourers.
