RAWALPINDI: The district administration has sent recommendations to the Punjab Board of Revenue for making Daultala a new tehsil of Rawalpindi.

The district had seven tehsils - Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Taxila, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Murree and Kotli Sattian. However, during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in 2022, Murree got the status of a district and Kotli Sattian became its tehsil.

Now, the government is planning to create a new tehsil for Rawalpindi district. However, the senior district official told Dawn though work had started on the directives of the government, the provincial cabinet wouldhave a final say about the fate of the new tehsil.
