KARACHI, March 21: The Karachi-based Baloch Alliance has condemned the arrests of Baloch political activists including those of Saleem Baloch and Rauf Sasuli in the city. It noted with concern the highhandedness of police in Malir, saying that the houses of Baloch activists were being raided without any search warrants and their family members were being harassed and interrogated by law-enforcement agencies.

Alliance chairman Zahid Husain Baloch claimed that concerted efforts were being made to keep away the Baloch youth in Karachi from national struggle of Balochistan.

“It is the right of every citizen to protest against any injustice,” he said and lamented that when the people of Malir had held a rally against the arrests of Baloch activists, police subjected their family members to inhuman treatment.

“This is a total violation of human rights,” he said, and urged the chief minister and interior minister of Sindh to stop the victimization of Baloch activists in Sindh and take action against responsible police officials.

He alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to evict the Baloch population from Malir.
