RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday sealed an unauthorised building known as the Plastic Tank Factory on Lakho Road.

According to a press release, the Enforcement Squad conducted an operation with the support of the Naseerabad police station.

The property owner had been issued three prior notices for violating the approved plans and maps. The building owner breached the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020, as he proceeded with the construction without getting the necessary approvals and no-objection certificates (NOCs).

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza has instructed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to enforce strict measures against encroachments and unauthorised constructions and commercial activities impartially.

Besides, the Building Control Wing has been tasked with surveying fees and charges related to the approval of illegal residential and commercial buildings, commercialisation and complementary building plans to regularise all such structures within RDA’s jurisdiction.

The civic body has urged the public to take moral responsibility of removing any form of encroachment to prevent further losses.
