GILGIT, March 20: Northern Areas Deputy Chief Executive Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan has aid that construction of Bhasha-Diamer dam will bring progress and prosperity to the region.

He told the Northern Areas Legislative Council, which started debate on the construction of the dam on Monday, that comprehensive arrangements were being made for rehabilitation of the affected people.

Speaking on a point of order, NALC member Haider Khan said President Pervez Musharraf was taking keen interest in development of the area. He thanked the government for enhancement in perks of the council’s members.

Ibrahim Sani said everyone should make collective efforts for prosperity and development of the area. He said it was high time to eliminate the culture of opposition for the sake of opposition.

Later, Speaker Malik Mohammad Miskeen adjourned the session till Friday.—APP
