KARACHI: A 10-year-old boy was found shot dead in his home on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

Steel Town SHO Ghulam Husain Pirzada said that Bilal Illahi Bux, 10, “committed suicide” in his home in Haji Jangi Khan Goth near Ghaghar Phatak.

He said that the boy took out the licensed pistol of his father and shot himself in the temple when his mother was looking after her other son in the adjacent room.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said that doctors had taken swabs of his both hands for ‘gunshot residue’ to ascertain whether it was a suicide or murder.
