GUJRAT: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has changed the entire staff of the Gujrat Regional Passport Office over alleged administrative weaknesses.

At least nine officials of Gujrat RPO from grade 1 to 15 have been transferred to the south Punjab districts of Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rehim Yar Khan whereas the assistant director (AD) of Gujrat Hayat Tarrar has been transferred to the Islamabad headquarter.

Ali Imran, assistant director at the Gujjar Khan RPO, has been posted as Gujrat AD in place of Mr Tarrar. The newly-posted officials in Gujrat RPO have been transferred from South Punjab districts.

Earlier, the federal government’s immigration and passport directorate had transferred the entire staff, including its head, from Gujranwala RPO last month.

It is learnt that senior authorities in the department had initially conducted a departmental probe into the alleged complaints of administrative weaknesses in the Gujrat RPO office after which the DG himself looked into the matter before removing entire staff.

The officials transferred to South Punjab are making efforts to stay in central Punjab. Most of the newly-posted officials have taken over the charge in the Gujrat RPO.
