BAJAUR: A man was killed and two others wounded when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device (IED) planted at a roadside in Mamund tehsil of Bajaur district on Monday.

Police and locals said the incident occurred in Lara Bandagi area at about 5pm.

Israr Khan, a Public Relations Officer of local police, told Dawn the victims were going to a nearby area when the IED, went off, killing Itbaar and injuring Attaur Rahman and Khalil Khan. The vehicle was destroyed in the explosion.

Locals told Dawn that after the explosion, residents of nearby areas reached the area and shifted the wounded to the Khar district headquarters hospital.
