THE increasing traffic congestion at the main Karsaz intersection calls for a functional traffic signal. The lack of it currently leads to prolonged delays during peak hours, causing frustration among drivers, and posing a significant safety risk.

Without there being proper traffic control measures in place, vehicles often jostle for space, leading to near-misses and, in some unfortunate cases, accidents. Recently, two cars bumped into each other at the intersection. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the cars were damaged. The accident caused a traffic jam as both the drivers started fighting, disrupting the flow of traffic.

The traffic chaos also poses a risk to pedestrians. It endangers lives, and discourages people from walking. This, in turn, increases the reliance on motor vehicles, and contributes to environ-mental degradation.

Moreover, many students get late for their classes because of the traffic mayhem on the main road leading to their respective universities.

The relevant authorities should take prompt action and prioritise the matter to make traffic move smoothly on the road. Investing in infrastructure improvement is essential for promoting efficient transportation and safeguarding public wellbeing. These are critical elements.
