MANSEHRA: Police recovered a 19-year-old girl here in Bajna Shar area on Saturday night before she could allegedly be put to death by her family for honour.

“We recovered a girl tied with chains in a room of her house as her family planned to kill her on suspicion of having a relationship with a boy,” district police office Shafeeullah Gandapur told mediapersons on Sunday.

He said a police party raided a house in Bajna Shar area in the jurisdiction of Khaki police station, unchained the girl tied with a pillar in a room, and arrested her father, Azizur Rehman and uncle, Mohammad Sajid.

The police produced the girl before a local court in tight security. The girl was sent to Darul Aman in protective custody. The same court also sent the arrested suspects to jail on judicial remand.

“My family was about to kill me. My uncle handed me a phone ordering me to call the boy to their home, but instead I phoned the police for help,” the FIR quoted the girl as saying.

She further said that her younger sister had left home and returned after some days, but her family also blamed her for this.

“I was tied with chains with one of my room’s pillars. I would have been put to death had the police not come to her rescue,” she further stated in the FIR.

DPO Shafeeullah said that Mohammad Hammad, stated to be the brother of the girl, tortured her and showed her pistol repeatedly threatening her that she would be killed with it.

The police after lodging FIR under sections 342, 506/109/34 and 337-AI of Pakistan Penal Code started making raids to arrest Hammad.
