KARACHI: In what appeared to be a follow-up meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed officials concerned to speed up work on all ongoing development projects being carried out by the federal government in Sindh.
Last month, the chief minister held a meeting with the prime minister in Karachi and had taken up several issues relating to development works in the province.
A statement issued in Islamabad by the Prime Minister Office said that federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Cheema and Awais Leghari, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jahanzeb Khan and other senior officials attended the meeting between the PM and the Sindh CM.
Sources said that the chief minister mainly raised the province’s issues concerning the National Highway Authority.
They said that the projects which came under discussion in the meeting included Ghotki-Kandhkot Bridge, de-federalisation of Karachi-Thatta dual carriageway project and construction of Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway (M6).
While ordering the officials concerned to expedite work, the PM said that collaboration between the federation and the provinces was indispensable for the restoration of the economy. “For the overall development and prosperity of Pakistan, we have to unite and find solutions to the problems,” the prime minister said.
