THE provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) would do well to keep in mind the simple fact that the people gave them electoral victory and a mandate that has kept the ruling party in the province still alive. Otherwise, the party was on the verge of utter political extinction. It now owes it to the people of KP for keeping it in power, and needs to deliver the goods rather than continuing with poor governance.

As things stand currently, there is no respite for the poor and the needy in society. They are seriosuly struggling to put two-time meals on the table for their families. Inflation is on a high, and so is the case with unemployment.

Further, the provincial government has banned new inductions through the KP Public Service Commission (KPPSC) even when all jobs have their particular age cut-off. Now that the people of KP have given the party a new lease of political life, the KP government must address the issue of utilities, unemp-loyment, poverty, and infrastructure. Political agenda should be secondary, and relief for the people through good governance should be the priority.
