12 factory workers injured as bus overturns

KASUR: At least 12 factory workers were injured as a bus overturned due to speeding on Raiwind Road near Zafarkay Pathak in the limits of the Kot Radha Kishan Police Station.

The factory bus was on its way from Changa Manga to Manga Mandi when it overturned due to reckless driving of its driver. At least 12 passengers suffered injuries.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to THQ Hospital Kot Radha Kishan after first aid. The injured were identified as Shahbaz, Arshad, Javaid, Asghar, Imtiaz, Saleem, Ishfaq, Ali Raza, Arif, Mudassar, Sultan and Shabbir. Of them, Arshad was referred to the Lahore General Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the bus remained unhurt and he managed to escape.

KILLED: Robbers gunned down two persons and injured another during separate incidents of robbery on Sunday.

In the first incident, four robbers stormed into a grocery store of Rana Sajid at Nathay Adda in the limits of the Phoolnagar Saddar Police Station. The robbers held Sajid and his brother Haseeb at gunpoint and started collecting cash from the counter. Meanwhile, Sajid put up resistance and tried to overpower a robber. The other suspect opened indiscriminate fire, leaving Sajid dead on the spot while Haseeb was injured. Both the victims were shifted to hospital.

The traders and relatives of the victims blocked the road in protest against lawlessness in the area. Thy ended the protest on assurance of local administration that justice would be done.

In the second incident, robbers shot a rickshaw driver dead during a robbery bid near village Athelpur on Raiwind Road in the limits of Saddar Police Station.

The rickshaw driver, Salamat, had loaded empty gas cylinders on his three-wheeler and was on his way to Kasur from Raja Jang when two robbers signaled him to stop. One of the robbers, however, opened indiscriminate fire at Salamat when he did not stop. As a result, Salamat died instantly.

His relatives blocked the Raiwind Road where they held a demo against the incident. Saddar SHO Mushtaq Haider convinced them to end the protest.

Police shifted the body to the district headquarters hospital and started looking into the matter.

In another incident, a youth was shot on the Mega Road in the limits of Pattoki Police Station over enmity.

The injured, identified as Ibadat Ali, was rushed to the tehsil headquarters hospital for medical aid.
