RAWALPINDI: Rescue1122 Rawalpindi on Saturday observed Firefighters Day to remember those who lost their lives during fire fightingand rescue operations.

In this regard, a function was arranged at Rescue 1122 offices.District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi Engineer Sibghatullah and officials of Rescue 1122laid floral wreath on martyrs mausoleum established at the site.

The speakers paid rich tribute to services rendered byfirefighters and highlighted the role of emergency workers towards safety of the community. District emergency officer Rawalpindi Engineer Sibghatullah while addressing the ceremony said that the purpose of celebrating this day is to pay tribute to those martyrs who sacrificed their lives while saving the lives and property of others.

He further said that firefighters are in fact the real heroes of the nation as they not only help people in times of crisis but sometimes also sacrifice their lives while protecting people’s property.

By putting their lives at risk, he said that they protect people’s lives and property.

He said that people feel secure that in any dire situation, the firefighters of Rescue 1122 are always ready to serve the public.

Along with this, he also urged the owners of high-rise buildings to follow the fire safety rules made by the Emergency Services Department to protect high-rise buildings from fire incidents.
