DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three siblings were stabbed and set on fire allegedly by their maternal aunt in the Jamal Sarwar area of Dera Ghazi Khan on Saturday.

One Abdul Qadir, the son Allah Bakhsh Durrani, called Rescue 1122 and told them that he and his wife were out of their house while their three children Irfan (7), Rizwan (8) and Misbah (3) were at home with their aunt Amina, the wife of Mujhid Hussain. She was staying at the house of her sister (Qadir’s wife).

He alleged that Amina cut the throats of his children and stabbed them with a knife before setting them on fire.

She fled away from our house after committing the crime.

The rescuers rushed the burnt children to trauma centre of the Allama Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan. The youngest of the siblings Misbah (3), having multiple stab wounds and 80pc burns, was shifted to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, while Irfan and Rizwan were being treated at the DG Khan hospital.

The condition of all three of them was stated to be critical.

Regional Police Officer retired Capt Sajjad Hasan Khan has sought a report on the incident from the Saddar Police Station. The police have not registered a case yet while Amina is still at large.

ARRESTED: Kot Chhutta police registered a case against a schoolteacher for giving corporal punishment to his student.

DPO Syed Ali took notice of the incident after a video of the schoolteacher, identified as Amir Abbas, thrashing his student, Muhammad Sulaiman, went viral on social media.

Police arrested the suspect after registering a case.

FIREFIGHTERS: Rescue 1122 commemorated the International Firefighters Day by holding an awareness walk, a flag march and a seminar.

Led by District Commissioner Shahid Zaman Lak and District Emergency Officer Engineer Ahmed Kamal, the events were attended by various stakeholders, including fire safety officers, schoolchildren, volunteers and civil society members.

The seminar highlighted the role of firefighters as heroes.

DEO Ahmed Kamal emphasised the importance of following fire safety regulations, particularly in high-rises, to prevent fire incidents.
