LAHORE: Final matches of First CM Punjab Pink Games in hockey, basketball and cricket events will be played at their respective venues at Nishtar Park Sports Complex here on Sunday, the last day of the four-day gala in which 20 universities fielded some 1300 women players.

Teams of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and Sargodha University cruised into the basketball final on the third day at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Saturday.

In the basketball semi-finals, Sargodha University outplayed Government College Women University Sialkot 14-0 to enter the final. Mehwish remained a prominent player for the victorious team with 12 points.

Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) toppled Government College University Lahore by 51-17 in the second pre-final. At half-time the winners were leading with 35-8. Khadeeja and Eman were the top scorers for the winners with 14 and 13 points, respectively. For the losing team, Muqaddas managed to score 10 points.

In the tape-ball cricket’s semi-finals played at at NPSC Cycling Velodrome on Saturday, LCWU thrashed GCU by nine wickets in the first semifinal.

Batting first, GCU scored 50 runs in 8 overs. In reply, LCWU chased the easy target after losing just one wicket.

Punjab University defeated Islamia University Bahawalpur in the second semifinals by a big margin of 50 runs. Batting first the winners piled up 122 in eight overs thanks to fine batting by Ataf’s whirlwind knock of 60, laced with nine sixes. In reply, Islamia University Bahawalpur were bundled out for 72 runs.

In the hockey event, LCWU trounced Punjab University 5-0 in the first semifinal at National Hockey Stadium Pitch-2. Maleeha struck two beautiful field goals while the remaining three goals were shared by captain Areeba Sarwar, Areej Gul and Saira Murad.

Superior University Lahore whipped Bahaudin Zakaria University by a huge margin of 15-0 in the second semifinal. In-form striker Sharika Sarwar netted a dozen goals for the winning team while Abida Perveen and Nargis Kanwal scored two and one respectively.

In the badminton team event, Punjab University defeated Forman Christian College Lahore 3-0 in the first semifinal while University of Lahore beat Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) 3-1 in the second semifinal.
